Kerry Group jobs announcement major step for Kerry based company – Griffin
Fine Gael TD, Brendan Griffin, has today (Tuesday) welcomed the announcement that Kerry Group is establishing a new global technology and innovation centre in Ireland as a major step forward for the Kerry-based company. A total of 900 jobs will be created through the €100 million investment, with an additional 400 jobs being created during construction phase.
“This is a phenomenal announcement from an indigenous Irish company which is truly making its mark on the global marketplace. Since it was first established in Listowel 40 years ago, Kerry Group has grown to be a world leader in supplying ingredients for the food and beverage industry.
“Kerry Group, which is headquartered in Tralee, currently has annual sales of about €5.3 billion. The Group employs 24,000 people around the world, supplying customers in more than 140 countries. Through its new €100 million campus in Kildare it will provide strategic customers with access to the Group’s complete breadth and depth of technologies, scientific research, innovation and applications expertise across food, beverage and pharmaceutical markets.
“Today’s announcement is a clear sign of the Group’s commitment and belief in the Irish marketplace. This is one of the most significant jobs announcements to be made since the economic crash, and it is very encouraging that it is being made by an indigenous company with its roots firmly based in Kerry.
“Kerry Group is leading the way in food innovation and expertise. By using combined technologies and a systems-led approach, the Group is successfully creating value and specifically identifying how it can better meet its customers’ needs.
“The Group has said that 800 jobs will be created at the new technology and innovation centre by 2015, with a further 100 full time jobs coming on stream by mid-2016. I have no doubt that this new venture will add significantly to the Kerry Group brand and I wish the firm every success in the future.”
