Safe Walking Path to Castlegregory NS and GAA to be Installed

Statement by Brendan Griffin TD (FG) Kerry

July 31st 2015

KERRY Fine Gael TD, Brendan Griffin, has today (Friday) received confirmation from senior officials at Kerry County Council that as part of the additional €1.1 MILLION extra roads funding that he helped secure for Kerry last week, the road from Castlegregory Village to the GAA pitch will be resurfaced in the coming weeks, with kerbing installed to create a safely separated walking path at the side of the road linking the school with the existing footpath.

Deputy Griffin had lobbied hard for this path for many years and says that it is great to have finally got a result.

“I hope this development will result in a much safer walk to and from school in the future for the children of Castlegregory and their parents. It would not have happened without constant lobbying at local level by me and my colleague, Cllr. Seamus Cosai Fitzgerald, and without my sucessful lobbying at national level for additional roads funding for Kerry, which is enabling these works to commence.

“Late last year, I also received confirmation that 2 additional SET rooms were sanctioned for Castlegregory NS and now this is further good news for the school community.”
